Angesichts der Impfstoffknappheit hatte unter anderen Bayerns Ministerpräsident Markus Söder (CSU) moniert, die Bundesregierung habe die Dringlichkeit der Impfstoffbestellung anfangs offenkundig unterschätzt. "Es war richtig, dass Gesundheitsminister Jens Spahn den europäischen Weg gewählt hat und wir in Europa gemeinsam vorgehen", sagte Schäuble dazu. In der Krise wachse die EU zusammen, das sei "enorm ermutigend", so der Bundestagspräsident und CDU-Politiker.
Krise mit Solidarität überwinden
"Die Krise überwinden wir nur mit Solidarität, in Europa und auch darüber hinaus", mahnte Schäuble mit Blick auf Warnungen, es bleibe nicht genug Impfstoff für ärmere Regionen. So geht die Caritas davon aus, dass in 70 ärmeren Ländern kommendes Jahr nur zehn Prozent der Bevölkerung geimpft werden können, weil sich die entwickelten Länder den Großteil der Kapazitäten bereits gesichert hätten. pm, ots
