Angesichts der sich zuspitzenden Corona-Lage in Namibia fordert der Hamburger Historiker und Kolonialismus-Forscher Jürgen Zimmerer nicht nur schnelle und unbürokratische Impfstoff-Lieferungen aus Deutschland, sondern auch ein Moratorium der laufenden Verhandlungen der deutschen Regierung mit den Herero und Nama über Möglichkeiten der Aussöhnung, weil wichtige Repräsentanten der Herero und Nama an Corona verstorben sind.
Das sagte Jürgen Zimmerer auf rbbKultur. Laut Zimmerer sei es seitens Deutschlands eine Frage der Pietät und der politischen Klugheit, zu warten, bis die Herero und Nama die Nachfolgefrage geregelt und sich auf eine Verhandlungsposition geeinigt haben, um die Verhandlungen um die Wiedergutmachung der kolonialen Schuld wieder aufzunehmen.
1,1 Milliarden Euro für Projekte zur Verfügung gestellt
Ende Mai hatte die deutsche Regierung erstmals den Völkermord an den Herero und Nama anerkannt und Namibia 1,1 Milliarden Euro für Projekte in dem afrikanischen Land in Aussicht gestellt. Dass die akute medizinische Notlage zeitlich zusammenfalle mit den Regierungsverhandlungen über den Genozid, erfordere von Deutschland jetzt solidarisches und schnelles Handeln.
Historische Verantwortung für den Kolonialismus
Deutschland müsse eingedenk der historischen Verantwortung für den Kolonialismus ganz gezielt in Namibia agieren und die Bevölkerung vor der medizinischen Katastrophe schützen.
