Damit habe sich die Zahl der Salafisten seit 2011 mehr als verdreifacht. Damals hatte das Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz der Szene 3.800 Personen zugerechnet. Im vergangenen Jahr hat auch die Dynamik des Wachstums wieder zugenommen: Der Anstieg um 850 Personen übertrifft den von 2018.
Damals stellte der Verfassungsschutz eine Zunahme um 500 Salafisten auf 11.300 fest. In Nordrhein-Westfalen sei das prozentuale Wachstum bei den Salafisten deutlich geringer als in Berlin, in Hamburg sinke die Zahl sogar leicht. In der Hauptstadt hingegen vergrößerte sich das Spektrum um 100 Personen auf 1.120, das sei ein Plus von zehn Prozent. In NRW gebe es auch einen Anstieg um 100 Salafisten, allerdings von 3100 auf 3200. Das bedeute eine Zunahme um nur drei Prozent. Dass Berlin einen kräftigeren Anstieg zu verzeichnen habe, scheine jedoch nicht nur an der ungebrochenen Attraktivität der Szene für labile, sinnsuchende Muslime zu liegen.
Intensivere Beobachtung der Salafistenszene
Der Verfassungsschutz hat das Spektrum jetzt genauer im Blick und stellt damit auch Salafisten fest, die ihm nicht bekannt waren. The growth of the Salafist scene has no end. As the "Tagesspiegel" learned from security circles, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Verfassungsschutz 2019) noted an increase of 850 persons to 12,150 among the most radical, largest and in parts violence-oriented Islamist milieu nationwide.
This means that the number of Salafists has more than tripled since 2011. At that time, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution had attributed 3,800 persons to the scene. Last year, the dynamics of growth also increased again: The increase of 850 persons surpasses that of 2018.
