Man könne doch nicht Schulen und Kitas bis Jahresende geschlossen halten. Denn so lange werde es mindestens dauern, bis man über einen Impfstoff verfüge, betonte Montgomery. Italien habe ein Lockdown verhängt und habe einen gegenteiligen Effekt erzielt. "Die waren ganz schnell an ihren Kapazitätsgrenzen, haben aber die Virusausbreitung innerhalb des Lockdowns überhaupt nicht verlangsamt." Ein Lockdown sei eine politische Verzweiflungsmaßnahme, weil man mit Zwangsmaßnahmen meint, weiter zu kommen, als man mit der Erzeugung von Vernunft käme. Kritisch äußerte sich Montgomery zu den von der Bundes-regierung angeordneten Grenzschließungen. "Ich glaube nicht, dass die Grenzschließungen das Virus aufhalten können. Das ist politischer Aktionismus." Man könne einzelne Autobahnübergänge kontrollieren und abriegeln. Aber dann nähmen die Leute eben die kleinen Landstraßen.
