Dass die Lockerungen nach dem Corona-Lockdown von Land zu Land unterschiedlich erfolgten, überfordere die Bürger. "Selbst diejenigen, die Verantwortung zeigen wollen, verstehen nicht mehr, warum sie etwas nicht dürfen, was andernorts schon wieder zugelassen worden ist", sagte Montgomery. "Das entstandene Chaos führt zu Verunsicherung, und wozu das führen kann, sehen wir jetzt in Berlin."
Dringender Wechsel in der Pandemiebekämpfung
Der Weltärztechef forderte daher einen dringenden Wechsel in der Pandemiebekämpfung: "Wir müssen zurück zu einem bundesweit einheitlichen Lockerungskonzept, um das wieder einzufangen und zu stoppen", sagte er der NOZ. "Die Geschehnisse müssen uns Mahnung sein, den Leuten klarzumachen, was gelockert werden kann und wo Vorsichtsmaßnahmen weiterhin unbedingt einzuhalten sind. Sonst werden die Leute zu locker."
Gefundenes Fressen für den Virus
Die Ereignisse auf dem Berliner Landwehrkanal waren aus Sicht des Weltärztechefs hochriskant. "Die Bootsparty birgt das Potenzial, zum nächsten Superspreader-Event zu werden. Wenn sich eine Vielzahl von Menschen näher kommt, in freudigster und womöglich alkoholisierter Stimmung, mit Gesängen und Ähnlichem, dann ist das für das Virus ein gefundenes Fressen", so Montgomery.
