Die Persönlichkeiten aus Sport, Politik, Kultur, Wirtschaft und Kirche sollen das Fußballmuseum aus unterschiedlicher Perspektive beraten und es noch stärker im lokalen und überregionalen Umfeld gesellschaftlich vernetzen. Den Vorsitz im Kuratorium führen im jährlichen Wechsel der DFB-Präsident und der Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Dortmund.
Benedikt Höwedes, 44-facher Nationalspieler und Weltmeister von 2014, der seine aktive Laufbahn nach Stationen beim FC Schalke 04, Juventus Turin und Lokomotive Moskau in diesem Sommer beendet hat, ist der letzte Neuzugang für das neue Beratungsorgan. Mit Bundestrainerin Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, Weltmeister und Ex-BVB-Profi Roman Weidenfeller sowie der 137-fachen Ex-Nationalspielerin Annike Krahn gehören weitere deutsche Fußballgrößen dem Museumskuratorium an.
Claudia Roth ist neues Mitglied im Gremium
Aus der Bundespolitik ist Claudia Roth, Vizepräsidentin des Deutschen Bundestages, dem neuen Gremium beigetreten. Aus der Kommunalpolitik vertreten die Fraktionsvorsitzenden Norbert Schilff (SPD), Ulrich Monegel (CDU), Ulrich Langhorst (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) und Thomas Zweier (Die Linke & Piraten) die Parteien im Rat der Stadt Dortmund.
Deutsches Fußballmuseum hat sich etabliert
DFB-Präsident Fritz Keller sagt: „Das Deutsche Fußballmuseum hat sich fünf Jahre nach seiner Eröffnung fest etabliert und ist eine Bereicherung der deutschen Museums-landschaft, aus der es längst nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Es begeistert Menschen aus dem In- und Ausland von Jung bis Alt. Vom neu geschaffenen Kuratorium erhoffen wir uns zusätzliche Impulse für unseren ‚Ballfahrtsort‘. Mit Persönlichkeiten aus allen Bereichen des gesellschaftlichen Lebens ist das Kuratorium breit und damit bestens aufgestellt.“ Ullrich Sierau, Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Dortmund, sagt: „Mit der Konstituierung des Kuratoriums erfährt die gesellschaftliche Einbindung des Fußballmuseums eine weitere Facette. Ich bin den Kuratoriumsmitgliedern sehr dankbar, dass sie mitwirken und das Museum bei seinen Herausforderungen in der Zukunft begleiten wollen. Das gibt dem Fußballmuseum Rückenwind.“ Manuel Neukirchner, Direktor des Deutschen Fußballmuseums, sagt: „Mit dem Kuratorium haben wir ein Beratungsorgan installiert, mit dem wir einen offenen Dialog über die grundsätzliche Ausrichtung des Museums führen können. Das bringt uns wieder ein Stück voran.“

The Board of Trustees of the German Soccer Museum has constituted itself in a video conference. The German Football Association and the City of Dortmund, as equal partners of the Museum, each nominated twelve members for the Board of Trustees. The personalities from the worlds of sport, politics, culture, business and the church are to advise the Museum of Football from different perspectives and network it even more closely in the local and supraregional environment. The board of trustees is chaired by the president of the German Football Association (DFB) and the Lord Mayor of the City of Dortmund, who rotates annually.
Benedikt Höwedes, 44-time national team player and 2014 world champion, who ended his active career this summer after playing for FC Schalke 04, Juventus Turin and Lokomotive Moscow, is the latest addition to the new advisory body. With national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, world champion and ex-BVB professional Roman Weidenfeller and 137-time ex-national player Annike Krahn, other German soccer greats are also members of the museum's board of trustees.

Claudia Roth, Vice President of the German Bundestag, has joined the new body from the federal political arena. German Football Museum has established itself
DFB President Fritz Keller says: "Five years after its opening, the German Football Museum has firmly established itself and is an enrichment of the German museum landscape, which has long been inconceivable without it. It inspires people from home and abroad, from young to old. We hope that the newly created board of trustees will provide additional impulses for our 'place of ball travel'. With personalities from all areas of social life, the board of trustees is broad and thus optimally positioned. Ullrich Sierau, Lord Mayor of the City of Dortmund, says: "With the constitution of the Board of Trustees, the social integration of the Museum of Soccer will experience a further facet. I am very grateful to the members of the Board of Trustees for their cooperation and their desire to accompany the museum in its future challenges. This gives the Museum of Soccer a tailwind.
