Im Gegenteil: Diese Wahl hat den Trumpismus bestätigt, an dem die amerikanische Nation leidet, an der in Wahrheit schon eine ganze Reihe liberaler Demokratien leidet. Warum wir auf keinen Fall Zeuge dieses knappen Wahlergebnisses werden wollten, hat Trump sogleich aufs Drastischste bestätigt. Er stuft die Wahl schon zu einem Zeitpunkt als Betrug ein, zu dem er sie noch gar nicht verloren hat. "Lebendig kriegt Ihr mich hier nicht raus", soll das wohl im Klartext heißen.

Er sägt noch energischer als im Wahlkampf an den Grundpfeilern der Demokratie und stachelt damit seine Anhänger auf. Ein klarer Sieg Trumps wäre weniger zersetzend gewesen. So mögen Joe Biden und die Demokraten vielleicht noch eine Mehrheit der Wahlmänner hinter sich bringen können, im klassischen Sinne siegen werden sie nicht mehr. Sie haben alles auf eine Abfuhr Donald Trumps gesetzt und sind dabei krachend gescheitert.
"Sleepy Joe" war saft- und kraftlos
"Sleepy Joe" war zu saft- und zu kraftlos, um das Energiebündel Trump aus dem Ring zu stoßen. Er hat keinen Aufbruch, keinen Patriotismus, keinen Zukunftsglauben verströmt, wonach diese Nation so dringend verlangt, die den Glauben an sich selbst verloren hat. Nicht einmal das Versagen des Präsidenten in der Corona-Krise, nicht einmal den Tod zehntausender Amerikaner hat Biden in einen klaren Sieg ummünzen können. Im Gegenteil: Es hat den Anschein, dass die Corona-Krise Donald Trump am Ende eher geholfen hat. Das Überwinden der eigenen Infektion, mit dem er das Zerrbild des Unbesiegbaren zementieren konnte, war das größte Geschenk, das ihm in diesem Wahlkampf gemacht wurde.
Biden konnte Sehnsucht der Amerikaner nicht bedienen
Wer das nicht versteht, hat nicht verstanden, wie die Mehrheit der Amerikaner tickt - nicht nur das Heer der weißen Abgehängten, auch die Reichen, auch die Exil-Kubaner in Florida. Die amerikanische Sehnsucht nach Entschiedenheit hat Biden dagegen nie bedienen können. Das Sträfliche: Er hat es erst gar nicht versucht.
Auch als Gewinner ist er gescheitert
Falls er doch noch ins Weiße Haus wird einziehen können, ist er mit seinem Versprechen, das Land zu einen, schon jetzt gescheitert. Wenn er am Ende aber unterliegt, werden die Demokraten einen Linksruck machen, der sie noch weiter als jetzt von der Mehrheitsfähigkeit entfernen wird. Wahlen haben in Demokratien normalerweise die Funktion, Klarheit zu schaffen und für Befriedung zu sorgen.
Die Polarisierung der USA und der Welt verschärft sich
Diese Wahl aber hat die Polarisierung, die politische und gesellschaftliche Spaltung in den USA und in der Welt noch einmal verschärft. Das ist schon vor der endgültigen Auszählung der Stimmen ein Sieg für Donald Trump. Man muss bangen, was daraus in den kommenden Tagen erwächst. Why we did not want to witness this close election result under any circumstances was immediately confirmed by Trump in the most drastic way. He classifies the election as fraud at a time when he has not yet lost it. "You won't get me out of here alive," is what he is trying to say.
Trump is not satisfied with the battle of the lawyers

He is sawing even more vigorously than in the election campaign at the cornerstones of democracy, thereby inciting his supporters. A clear victory for Trump would have been less disintegrating.
