Der ehemalige CDU/CSU-Fraktionsvorsitzende Friedrich Merz hat sich für Koalitionsverhandlungen der Union mit der FDP und den Grünen ausgesprochen.
"Wir liegen Kopf an Kopf mit der SPD. Das heißt, wir können eine Regierung mit der FDP und den Grünen bilden. Das ist unser Auftrag, und ich befürworte das. Wir stehen in der Verantwortung für unser Land", sagte Merz am Wahlabend der Westfalenpost. "Wir sind stark unter 30 Prozent gefallen und haben eine sehr schwere Wahlniederlage erlitten. Wir werden die Ursachen in Ruhe analysieren. Jetzt müssen wir die Union zusammenhalten", betonte der 65-Jährige. Es sei zu früh, die Schuldfrage jetzt schon zu stellen.

Merz gewann für die CDU das Direktmandat im Hochsauerlandkreis, allerdings mit einem schlechteren Ergebnis als erwartet. "Ich gehe selbstbewusst nach Berlin", sagte Merz der Westfalenpost. "Wer jetzt aber schon über Posten redet, der hat die Botschaft des Wahlabends nicht verstanden." pm, ots
